Mickey arrived at the sanctuary in 2005. She lived as a pet for 17 years with two other capuchin monkeys, in a converted garage, with a tiny outdoor space. Mickey is a tiny monkey and her stunted growth is likely due to a lack of nutrition when she was younger. Due to a poor diet she had rotten teeth and needed 14 removing! She had also developed type 2 diabetes and requires medication twice daily to control her condition. Despite this, she settled fantastically well and is now a much loved member of her group. She enjoys a varied, healthy diet and loves to forage for her scatter feeds. She takes new arrivals under her wing in a grandmotherly fashion and has formed a strong bond with many of the capuchins, particularly BooBoo.
Adopting Mickey means that you are helping to provide the resources needed to give Mickey the best life possible. Your adoption also enables Wild Futures to continue its vital work campaigning for an end to the primate pet trade in the UK and abroad.
