Wild Futures is a UK charity with a holistic approach that combines an educational, environmental and sustainability remit dedicated to promoting the welfare, conservation and survival of our closest living relatives, the non-human primates; working to end the primate trade and abuse of primates in captivity, promoting the rehabilitation of captive primates and the preservation of those in the wild, whilst operating The Monkey Sanctuary for primates in need of a long term home.
We currently have two vacancies available.
Primate Care Giver
Location: The Monkey Sanctuary – Cornwall. Accommodation available.
Contract: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, 30 days a/l leave pa
Salary: dependent on experience – from: £21,324
Summary of Role:
Members of the care team are responsible for all aspects of daily care, working together to enhance and improve the lives of the primates at the Sanctuary. All members are required to work with all primate species housed at the Sanctuary as well as help support other aspects of the charity’s work if required.

Site and Facilities Co-Ordinator
Location: The Monkey Sanctuary – Cornwall
Contract: Full time
Salary: £25,000
Responsible for: The day-to-day functions of the site facilities
Summary of Role:
Hands-on, maintaining and improving the Sanctuary site and facilities, including primate territories, the grounds, the house, café, workshop and visitor areas. Supporting with Health & Safety to always ensure compliance and best practice. The Site and Facilities work is intrinsic to the work of the other charity departments and all employees are expected to work positively and engage with the rest of the team.
Key responsibilities will include, but are limited to:
- The maintenance of animal territories.
- The maintenance and any improvements required to the house and various outbuildings.
- Ensure all risk assessments are up to date and the health and safety is at the expected level to function legally.
- Maintenance or improvements projects ensuring all work is carried out to appropriate standards.

Board Trustee
Location: Remote/Cornwall
Salary: Unpaid role, expenses paid
Contract: Part-time, 3 years, possibility of re-election after 3 years
The Wild Futures Sanctuary currently houses capuchin monkeys (Cebus and Sapajus sp), common marmosets (Callithrix jacchus), Barbary macaques (Macaca sylvanus), long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis), and woolly monkeys (Lagothrix sp). The majority of the residents are victims of the exotic pet trade in the UK. The Sanctuary has been awarded accreditation status by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS).
Requirements
We are looking for new people to join our Board of Trustees. This is a very rewarding voluntary position with a small animal welfare and conservation charity.
We are looking for people with experience of one (or more) of the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Law
- Human Resources
- NGO strategic planning
This is a voluntary trustee role for which your travel expenses would be covered. Trustees are asked to commit to attending 4 meetings a year. Meetings can be home based with the possibility of travelling to Cornwall four times a year.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to expand our existing Trustee Board, to bring their experience and fresh, innovative and realistic ideas to the charity.
