At Wild Futures, we believe that conservation, sustainability and education are essential for the future of our wonderful planet and the place to start implementing that is at home!
The Monkey Sanctuary site is managed to optimise opportunities for UK wildlife; our beautiful wildlife gardens are testament to this ethos. We want to enhance our visitors’ understanding of how and why conservation and environmental protection is vital and hope to inspire people to be engaged with the issues.
Wild Futures is a primate welfare charity with a specific focus on rescuing monkeys from the UK primate pet trade, we are currently fundraising for £60,000 to build a brand new complex of spacious enclosures to accommodate rescued marmosets. As a result of this build we have to relocate one of our education areas.
We want to use this opportunity of relocating, to create an exciting discovery trail to enable our visitors to immerse themselves in learning about UK wildlife conservation and sustainability. We would love to have facilities dedicated to learning about amazing species that we find naturally residing in our grounds, such as; the lesser-horseshoe bats, Pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly, Song thrush, Bullfinch and much more. This exciting discovery trail would be located in our wildlife gardens and will incorporate an education and activity room that allows adults and children alike to feel much closer to nature. The plans for this new venture not only allows for opportunities for conservation, sustainability and education, it will also improve our visitors’ experience, by creating more indoor, interactive areas, and more space to explore.
Until this point, these plans have been a far off dream, however Viridor Credits are offering a grant that could make this possible!
